My client, a leading P&C insurance company, is seeking a Commercial Lines Field Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for achieving growth and profit objectives by selecting appropriate risks, managing a profitable book of business, and developing strong agency relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select and price risks for profit and growth: Evaluate and price new risks based on departmental guidelines and ensure logical file documentation.
- Manage new business pipelines and maintain agency relationships: Develop and execute strategies to build business relevance and manage the production, profitability, and relationships with all agencies in the assigned territory.
- Implement and monitor pricing models: Work with Actuarial to implement pricing models, assure underwriting actions align with the model, and monitor performance.
- Participate in the quality review process and maintain technical proficiency: Ensure that new and renewal business fits company strategy and policies while continually improving the underwriting process.
- Lead and mentor less experienced underwriters: Develop less experienced underwriters by conducting regular reviews and providing guidance on new business submissions and areas of growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or CPCU designation (or comparable education and experience)
- Three or more years of commercial multiple lines underwriting experience (preferred)
- Excellent communication, decision-making, sales, and negotiation skills
- Strong PC skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within set deadlines
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and willingness to travel significantly to develop effective agency relations
