Job Title: Production Underwriter (Excess and Surplus Lines)
Location: Pittsburgh, Long Island, New Jersey, Atlanta, Boston.
Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Production Underwriter with expertise in Excess and Surplus Lines to join our team. This role is pivotal in expanding our market presence through strategic underwriting and relationship management with agencies and brokers. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of E&S products and a proven track record of building profitable underwriting portfolios in collaboration with distribution partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite new business submissions from agencies and brokers, focusing on Excess and Surplus Lines.
- Analyze risk exposures, market conditions, and industry trends to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners to foster collaboration and drive mutual growth.
- Negotiate terms and conditions, utilizing underwriting guidelines and authority levels to achieve profitable business outcomes.
- Provide exceptional service and support to agency partners, offering technical expertise and solutions to meet client needs.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging risks, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Stay current with industry developments, regulatory requirements, and competitive landscapes affecting E&S lines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Excess and Surplus Lines underwriting, with a focus on new business development.
- Proven ability to cultivate and manage relationships with agencies and brokers, demonstrating strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of E&S products, market dynamics, and risk assessment principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound underwriting decisions and manage a profitable portfolio.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and MS Office Suite; experience with agency management systems preferred.
